I think you are describing the cruise control actuator. if so the link is meant to slide, so that the throttle can be opened by the accelerator pedal without having to compress the cruise control vacuum actuator.

Looking at the diagram I'm thinking it may be the supercharger bypass actuator. Does this sound right? And if so what does it do? I've noticed that there's no hose coming out of the back of it either..

EDIT: I was looking at the wrong thing on the diagram it's not the sc bypass valve. I'm still not sure about the original part in question. I'm thinking maybe it's for a harder feel on the gas petle, or maybe an idle adjust?

Xjengineer I think u may be correct. There are no wires or anything going to it.. What does this thing actually do? As I see it there's no way for it to do anything unless the nut is tightened.. Maybe I'm confused haha.

EDIT: I found the vaccume line that conects to the cruise controll actuator, I think I understand it now. This must suck in the actuator thus moving the throttle correct? Also on the vacuumed pump there is a line missing and it wasn't there when I began. It's the one towards the rear. The smaller line is hooked up but the larger one is missing. Any clue? Thanks again.
Dayn.

If you have misfires on both cyl 5 and 6, then you should check that you haven't connected up the harness on these two coils back to front. It is quite easy to get these two connectors wired up wrong as the leads will reach the wrong coils.
