Default First issue with "new" 96 VDP

OK...I've had the car not 2 weeks yet and I'm experiencing my first electrical problem that I've heard alot of you speak of. When I got in this morning the radio was stuck in CD mode and wasn't responding to on/off, volume or radio. I could push the tape in and that would work. I drove the car to run some errands and after parking at one stop and getting back in it worked perfect, but when I went to turn it off when I got home, it was again "stuck". If someone could direct me to a thread that addresses the radio and how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it. If my father was alive I could just hear him saying: "for 16 years everything worked perfectly, you've had it 2 weeks and the radio doesn't work."

Thank you,
Joe

The Jaguar stock radios are notoriously unreliable and this topic has been covered in depth here on the forums, so a search should unearth more detailed info. There are companies who repair these radios and someone else may know more, as here in Ireland, I don't know of any. I did what most peole seem to do and replaced it! I replaced the CD changer at the same time (cos I got a good deal on a ten disc job) but unless I'm mistaken, if you want to keep the original Jag changer, the radio replacement must be an Alpine unit, in order to be compatible.

Others may chime in.

I checked the fuses then disconnected the battery and reconnected to see if this would reset it but it didn't and now it's completely dead! Hard to believe it would be shot when the cd and tape deck were working before I disconnected it and the whole thing was working yesterday at one point. Frustrating!

Unbelieveable...I pushed the tape into the tape deck to see if that would work and that did something because the entire unit started up and works perfectly!! Hopefully it will last.

It wouldn't power up again this evening when I started the car, but I again pushed the tape into the deck and that did the trick, after ejecting it everything worked. That seems to be the trigger to get the thing working???? Go figure!
