Default Front Amber Turn - also Parking Lights?

Hi, can anyone tell me if the front amber turn signals are supposed to be on as parking lights also? I noticed the headlamps look like they come on dim when the parking lamps are applied, but I have a 'bulb out' signal and can't seem to find where the trouble is after replacing several rear bulbs. The bulbs I purchased here in NJ seem to all be 13 volts vs. the 12v originals.

Not sure what USA market cars have as far as lighting requirements.

Down here the outer headlamps have a small 5w bulb in the top edge that is the parking lamps.

Mine had a parking bulb out, and the bulb warning was ON whenever the lights were activated, it is a continuity issue, or lack of, that lights the warning.

Following that, when I had a brake bulb out, that only illuminated the warning when the brakes were applied.

Soooo, somewhere you have a bulb out. If it is when the lighting circuit is active, it may be one of the number plate bulbs. If it is when the brakes are applied it may be one of the bulbs in the hi-level lamp.

The 13v should not be causing any issue as far as I am concerned.

I am not aware of the X300 having the same system as the XJ40, that constantly gave codes when nothing was blown/out.

The front amber lenses are strictly turn signals. The parking lamp is indeed in the outer headlamp housing. They look like dim headlamps when on. Also check the rear lamp clusters. The X300 cars used all the bulb holders whereas the later X308's didn't use the lower center one. That should make two rear parking lights per side but one brake light per side. As suggested, make sure all the bulbs are working.

Thank You! I will again check all the lights. You may have hit on the cause; I haven't yet checked the license or number plate lighting.

I researched Adelaide to see where exactly in South Australia it was. Looks beautiful and hopefully I have the chance to visit someday. The view I see from Mt. Lofty at night looks almost like seeing Los Angeles at night; all those lights with 1.23 million people!

Thanks again for your suggestions!

Thank you, Mark. It seems strange that those big amber turn signals in the front were strictly directional and nothing else, but then again I've been used to domestic cars until now. I will check all the lighting again. I'm also having some trouble with the steering column not tilting down, although it extends. Is there a separate forum for trying to straighten out problems like this? Thanks again!
