Gear selector is sticking
Hi,
I was out of town for 5 weeks and did not drive my Jaguar during that time. Upon returning I noticed that the gear shift was sticking a bit. It has loosened up a lot since then but it is doesn't go into park very well. It does go into park enough to remove my keys but I still have two problems. First the car will roll backwards a few inches if I am on a hill and 2ndly the car does not start most times if I am in park. It starts as usual if I start her in nuetral.
I was wondering what to do to free up that selector a bit more.
Thanks in advance,
Jomo

Since you are in UPSTATE NY I would guess a rusty/corroded selector lever cable??
I would disconnect the cable at the gearbox and see if the lever moves freely or the gearbox lever is the problem. (My bet is on the cable)
Could also be a fault with the selector housing but???????

Day by day it got better and now it is fine again. I just used it to get it better.
