Remember the orientation of the lens before removal as the embossed label is right side up . Mark with tape . Important to spray the 3 assembly engagement palls behind there with some penetrating oil as they get frozen ( you don't want to break the palls off )and use a large screwdriver on the back side to leverage each pall one at a time . No need to remove the lens to body painted surrounds

Default I just pooped mine off with a plastic panel tool

Cleaned all of them as 20 years of dust had settled and replaced bulbs with new white halogen. Made a nice difference and you might want to consider while you replacing the broken one.

Since the only thing that is broken is the glass lens at the front. Do you mean that I can just replace that a by it self????

I only know my experience which is the 4 glass lens on my 1997 XJ6 are mounted on three pegs that secure them in place with pressure. If you pry these off the pegs one-at-a-time the lens will come out in one piece. replacing them is just the reverse by centering the lens on the pegs and popping it back in place.
I took all four of mine off this way for cleaning and bulb replacement.

You have to remove the lens and reflector back as an assembly before considering re gluing a lens on to the reflector back .

Yes on the swirling dish soap in the assembly , you'll be amazed how dirty the resulting wash water comes out . Don't brush on the silvering as it easily comes off . Been there , done that .

Everything removed and all I need is the glass lens.

ANY ONE OUT THERE THAT HAS AN EXTRA LENS FOR THE RIGHT OUTBOARD ON A 95 XJ6??

The lens themselves should be the same for all 4 . The back reflector with the extra hole for the courtesy lamp for the 2 and the post length or orientation position with the mounting palls will be different so you have a flush contour ( before aiming adjustment ) to the body panel piece installation . ( Are lefts and rights pairs interchangeable to match this contour ? )

I hate to differ with you, as we say in Texas. But all four are not the same. The two inboard high beams are the same. The two outboard low beams are different compared to the high beams. And, the two low beams are different from left to right.

..........uuuuuuuhhhhhhmmmmmmm ................................. made you look as we get closer to solution..

Have you looked into replacing the inferior X300 series headlight assembly and silvering and pitted glass shortfalls with the superior X308 assembly as they are a world of difference . Removed mine and cleaned for many hours to unworthy for this cars X300 appearance resulting in looking to go X308 assembly replacement later

Haha, popular alternate phrasing, "I hate to differ with you, friend, but all four...."

I dunno, Parker...I've heard that from a few others, as well. But the stock X300 lights are the best headlights, both main and dipped beams, of any car I've ever owned. I'd definitely find and drive an X308 at night before making such a switch....unless, of course, I had a broken one and couldn't locate any genuine X300 replacements.

I'll have to admit that I don't have a reference to the performance of the lights as when I bought her and drove home at night I was focused on discerning what was going on with the engine . So my focus is more on appearance on the lights as mine are poor . It was a rolling basket case that was almost impossible to start with starter fluid as well as stalling out . Knew the reliability of the drivetrain before hand and I knew I could square her up so it didn't concern me at that present state . $ 1350 is all I paid for her as no one would touch it and I went in deep with a list of about 50 items tinkered with to get it back from behind the curve during the expected midlife overhaul . The previous owner was not a mechanic nor had the money for a dealer so I have seen some " things " before in my career but nothing like the " things " I've seen done to her . Used to shake my head at some examples , really ? come on man ! She was so far behind the curve she was a toss in on a truck deal earlier in her life . I have learned tremendously from the contributors on this website and will make a thank you video as she rolls out on her royal review .

Not at all, Bob....sorry to have left that impression. I thought it was funny. I'd always heard, "Texas.....when they call you "friend" they don't mean it that way.."

I fully support the right of an individual to fit whatever lights he fancies to his own car. I'm just of the opinion that my stock X300 lights are excellent and offer that as a caution to others prior to engaging the work of wiring mods required to fit X308's. Many say they are leagues better....perhaps they are. But I'll still find/drive an X308 in the dark before I'll make such a swap short of parts availability problems dictating same.

I have on order an X300 outboard and I think it is for the right side. At least that is what I asked for and the seller indicated he knew the difference. I'll know when it gets here. I'll be sure to keep you all up to date.

Just received my light from seller "socalbrit5" on eBay. Cost $60.00 and the unit was in perfect condition with free shipping and quick as well. Just installed and works great. But did think that the out board lights were different left to right. The appears not to be true. I put the pieces back together from my broken right unit and it is the same as the working one on the left. That is if my left one is original. Will check a friends XJ6 soon to be sure.

I appreciate ya'lls help ya hear.
