Headiner removal - how to remove interior alarm sensors?

Greetings all,
I've been a proud owner of my 1996 XJ Executive for about six months now.
Unfortunately recently the headlining began to sag quite noticably. So I decided to have a go at removing the headliner board and reattach the fabric.
Now there is a excellent tutorial that is on the web describing how to remove the headliner from a XJ8 (http://www.wlsheadliners.com/tutoria...uar-headliner/). Unfortunately my X300 has two additional alarm sensor units either side of the car above the central door pillar which is not described in the article (I guess the sensors are in a different position on the XJ8).
I've been trying to work out how to remove the sensors in order to allow the headlining to be removed. I've prised the unit away (slightly) from the headlining slightly and it seems that there are two screws used to attach it to the car. Unfortunately I'm at a loss as to how to get to those screws, and I don't want to simply use brute force and probably damage the units.
Anyone have advice on how to remove these sensor units?
Cheers

I know this post is old but someone else might come to this thread and have the same problem.
You dont need to remove them till you get the board out. the wiring is attached to the board itself on the back side.
Once you get the board out all becomes clear! They are two kind of push rivit things that are attached to the sensors. A bit of tugging will get them off.
So basically, leave them on until you get the board out.
To remove the board on an x300
- Ideally remove front passenger seat although not essential! but makes life easier. Four T50 torx bolts. Seatbelt anchor is attched to seat, remove once out the car.
- Centre light console (flip down sun glasses and undo a plastic screw a 1/4 turn. Unplug wiring and bring foward to release the front section).
- Remove sunvisors (three screws, be careful of the wiring)
- remove the clips, screw acessible through hole.
- rear sun screen clips at the top. Fold back the little flap inside and there is the screw!
- grab handles (prize off metal corners with fingernails or carefully with small screwdriver)
- the trim around the windows just pulls off. approch with caution or youll break something.
The board is then held in by the metal lugs which are part of the roof. just prize the board out slightly.
Open rear drivers and front passenger door and shuffle it back and forth till it comes free. Hardest part is getting it over the centre console.
Should take average joe blogs about an hour tops to get it out.
Then follow another thread for gluing or insert a brand new board and re assemble!
