Heating Problems

There is an auxilliary water pump located on the left side of the car near the firewall that circulates water for the heater circuit. Adjacent to it is a valve that controls the flow of water to the heater circuit. The pump is known to wear out brushes and the valve can stick. Have a look in the archives for info on replacing the heater pump brushes or cleaning the heater valve. Note- the heater valve powers OFF for hot water flow.

yup, I agree with the faulty thermostat... I changed mine just before road trip across Europe, but I managed to crack the housing, as I wasn't tightening the bolts evenly. I kept dripping slowly, and every 400km I was topping up the coolant. Then eventually I got some 2part 'glue' for steel, and that did the trick So just be careful when tightening those 2 bolts
