Default Help Identify Part 95 XJR

Hi Everyone,

The AC on my 95 XJR has been making lots of noise and this seems to be the culprit. It comes from the back side of the radiator but the I nor the parts guys know what it is.

Can anyone identify that piece on the end of the pipe?

Thanks for any and all help!

Chris

Chris,
I'll second that. I hope your problem lies somewhere else, as the pumps seem to be about£300!

Save money!!! Search the forum for "intercooler pump" There is a cheaper, more effective upgrade to a Bosch pump with greater GPH.

Thanks for the info guys! I will definitely look for that pump on the forum OWRltd. I also need an AC compressor which is ridiculous in price. Maybe I'll look on the form for that too??? Its about 650 GBP at British Parts!

As always. Thanks to the group for the right direction!

Cheers,
Chris

I got a compressor from Rock Auto or Parts Geek for about $200.00 USD. The exact fit compressor fits a number of cars including the X-300 and the X-308 Jags. You should replace the desiccant can and the install an inline screen when you change the compressor unless you have a sure fire way of backflushing the system.

Hey thanks for the heads-up Sparky!

British Parts UK want $985 USD for the compressor alone. (And they don't even have the expansion valve)

Rock Auto has a Denso for $187 USD. It says on the website that "Denso is the OM" for this part on the jag. Even if it is just built to spec, that's a LOT cheaper than the Daimler one in the UK.

Does anyone know if Denso is the OEM? Or perhaps someone has experience with Denso compressors?

There was a remanufactured 4Seasons for about 100 bucks more but not in stock. I was going to get the kit but have to go with the drier and expansion valve from 4 seasons and the Denso if I want to get moving.

Even if the Denso lasts a year, I could replace it 4 times for the cost of the Daimler!

Thoughts...???

My compressor on both my X-300 and my X-308 say Denso. The replacement I got did not. If you are not showing the car, I do not think it matters what brand of compressor you put on an 18 year old car!

Hi Canuck XJR6,

Denso is definitely an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of many, many parts for Jaguar cars, and you should have no worries whatsoever about the quality or longevity of one of their parts. Denso is a former division of Toyota that was spun off so they could supply other automakers as well, and they're now one of the world's largest OEMs, second only to Bosch. I'd buy that Denso compressor at $187 in a heartbeat.

For the record, other Jaguar air conditioning compressor OEMs have included Sanden, General Motors, and ACDelco/Harrison.

Your intercooler pump is clearly marked Hella, which is a large German OEM and longtime supplier to Jaguar. You might search for the pump by the part number molded into its body. You may find that the same pump was used on Volkswagons, Fiats, Renaults, Seats or some other more affordable make and is available for less money through one of those non-Jaguar sources.

Cheers,

Don

Stay away from Four Seasons, it's quasi rebuilt junk. If it last 30 days you'll be doing well. At least that was my experience with the A6 compressors for the Series III cars. I had much better life finding a decent compressor in the junkyard.

Are you sure the compressor is bad? The ones in these cars seem long lived.

Thanks for the advice Jagboi and Don B! I have a Denso being delivered tomorrow and I'm looking forward to getting the Jag back from the shop with some cool air! Dubai is starting to get a bit hot during the daytime. (Rockauto has sent the compressor from the USA and also had the expansion valve and the drier for half the cost delivered international FEDEX from the states to Dubai as opposed to British Parts UK! 15 hours flight time vs 7 hmmmnnn)

I'm having problems finding an intercooler pump though. British parts has one but I have been unable to get any satisfaction since trying to get a quote on the weekend. It seems that they are "short staffed and also had a medical emergency" so they cannot answer any email at this time.

I don't want to wish anyone ill will but.... dealing with BP is sometimes like

Unfortunately they are the only ones I could get to tell me they had a pump. Not that they said what the part number was or a quote, just that they had one that would fit my Jag. Rockauto hasn't anything listed.

SO FRIENDS. Anyone able to tell me the place to buy a bosch pump online and the actual one for the 95 XJR (Doug D you are especially requested to reply to this post PLEASE! )

Thanks from the Desert,
CT
