Driver's power seat side switches don't work. - (new to me 1997 XJ6 VDP - US model)
> Seat moves when a Memory button in pressed. To me, that proves, both power and the motors. Yea!
> The rocker switch for the lumbar support works. Check.
> The 4-way seat switch does not work. Crap.
> The recline switch does not work. Damn.
Here is my quandary. If I have power to the seat and the motors run when triggered from a memory setting, I'm thinking I simply have a faulty power seat switch.
Q1: Is the power seat switch one unit that controls both the 4-way and the recline or two separate switches?
Q2: Can the switch possibly be repaired with a through cleaning of all the contacts?
Q3: Can this switch be easily replaced by an experienced, advanced hobbyist but with no seat upholstery experience?
Q4: Is it honestly just far easier and way less trouble to simply take a replacement switch to a trim shop and have them change the damn thing out?.
I'll leave your post here for now. If there's no replies/resolution with 24 hours, I'll move it to X300 forum so members with the same model will definitely see it.
I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X300 forum and left an expiring re-direct in General Tech Help. Let's see if this location can prompt some help.
If you find that you need to replace the switch, it's straightforward. No upholstery work required.
Below picture should give you an idea of what you are working with inside.
For better access, the outer colour matched trim piece can be removed after the Fore/Aft switch and the Recline/Headrest switches are gently levered off. The lumbar switch remains in the outer cover.
You will then see the two plastic catches in the photo. You need to press these together as much as you can with your fingers to release the tangs, while prying the whole unit from the seat base.
Wow! You guys just MADE my Christmas!!! Thank you so much!
b1mcp - The picture was EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Weather here today in the US will be in the 60's so hopefully by the end of the day I will be able to finally reach my pedals and get rid of the bed pillow I'm having to use now! motorcarman - Thanks for the info. As a long time single marque forum user, I'm real diligent about reading all the FAQs, sticky's and using search.... as about everything has usually already been asked five time before. Believe me, I tried. Also, on the TSBs they are outside my particular VIN but DO give additional insight into the memory functions. Thanks!

An update to possibly expand the body of knowledge here for other's future search
TBS - Addresses the loss of seat memory for cars <768,224 by superseding PN LNA2165AA with PN LNA2165AD. Mine is a '97 #803,843 and of course all I can find used at a half way affordable price are the early AA units tested in 1994. FUSES - Calls for upgrading power circuit from 2x15a fuses to 2x20a fuses if not already fitted for each seat. Easy enough. POWER SEAT SWITCH - Was able to successfully remove my driver's power seat switch without breaking anything! Using a pair of long, thin flathead screwdrivers worked for me. (The picture of the removed switch was a great help!) Once removed and after studying the color coded wiring diagram for the pin positions, I was able to prove the switch by simply testing for continuity with a DMM for each switch position. Proving the switch saved me a $45 guess. Also using a DMM, proved 12v battery power at the plug pigtail.
SEAT CONTROL MODULE SCM - A through study of the wiring diagram show that only the SCM stands between the seat switch and the four seat motors. (It also stands between the seat memory function as well) With fuses checked and seat pigtail power proven, I guess it's time to ante up and play parts poker on a used replacement SCM off of eBay. Confidence is high as other forum posts have indicated that the PCBs on the SCM are frail and can become problematic.
Hold my beer! I'm going in! … unless somebody has another option?
I had this same problem with my son's '95 X300. Problem at the switches.Turned out the green wire was cut inside the insulator. I cut the insulator and soldered the wire together and voila! Works. So for christmas I bought my wife a 97 VDP. Similar problem. Green wire was pulled out somehow. Soldered it in to the connector and Voila! Another successful mission.

I'm assuming the Green w/red tracer wire at the seat switch plug. Makes sense as that is the main12v power feed to the switch. However, I DO have power at the socket end and my power lumbar is functioning. Still no seat motor function.
Since replaced the driver's seat control module (early #LNA2165AA) with no change. Still driving around with a bed pillow behind me. Think I'll just start drinking.
Edit: Just ordered SCM Jaguar No. DCM 11828 for Non-Memory seat. That is the one that came (non-functioning) in the car. Figured that was probably wrong as I do have the 3-position memory switch on the driver's door panel but if the 'correct' LNA2165AA/D didn't fix it, why not. Also it was half the price at $37 shipped! Due in Fri 1/24/20
