Default Hidden features of the X300

I have only had an XJ6 for about a year now and I occasionally come across a little feature that I did not know about.

Not everyone has an owners manual or they are new to Jaguars, so what have you found during your ownership?

Today when I was detailing my car and cleaning the glovebox I noticed for the first time a grove with a clip on it on the inside of the lid. A pen fits perfectly in the grove and the clip holds it securely.Never noticed it before!

Took me a while to figure out the rear fog lights. Not something anybody in my part of the USA has ever used, or even heard of!

Bet they're there. Left of steering wheel, row of 3 switches: (left to right)
Front Fogs
Rear Fogs
Boot Release

Excellent device to mess around inside the minds of tailgaters!

I think I have seen X300 promo videos on youtube. There may even be an old TopGear review with Jeremy Clarkson? Just browse (year) XJ6 and see what you can find.

Also put in a search alert on ebay for used manuals?

I found out today that the central locking button, if held down for a couple of extra seconds will close all the windows and sunroof. Ignition key has to be turned on for this to work. Missed that in the owners manual!

This can also be done by turning the key towards the front of the car in the lock!

This is not a hidden feature. It is described in the drivers handbook on page 19 and 22

Good comment - but then no one seems to read owners handbooks these days, they need to put them on their iphones, might look at them then.
Years ago instructions seem to come on DVD's because they only looked at anything on a tv screen.
Changing times -

Don't try to press and long-hold the lock button on the fob to do perform the "all close" function.

Wait, yeah, try it! Do it late at night...

Following up on John Herbert's comment, I recently bought off e-bay, the customer hand over video for the X300. Just 19 minutes long and quite interesting.

Great video. That guy was me in the 90's. Although I sure wasn't buying new Jags then! Had to wait until they were 12 years old first.

Love the way the young lady driver enters the car, "properly".

Notice the disclaimer for different equipment in different markets. Ain't that the truth.

That XJ12 had a glove box, which did not appear until mid-production of the 94/95 model year cars. Hmm.

On topic:

Hold the recirculate button until you hear two beeps, to keep it in recirculate mode. This feature also works for the external temperature mode, for constant monitoring. Interesting when you're going between desert and mountains.

When all of the climate controls are off, a press of the "face" button will vent fresh air into the cabin.

It took me 8 years to discover the little shelf at the very top of the glove compartment. I was just stuffing my registration & insurance in between a pile of pilfered Starbucks napkins and freeway maps (yes, I'm prepared for anything!) Now they sit magnanimously above the clutter waiting for the highway patrol.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to go searching for that "clip on the lid" Scotlad mentioned.
