How Does the CD Changer Work?
Hi All,
When I bought my '95 XJ6 there was a CD changer in the trunk but the 6 disc magazine was missing from it. I have since located a magazine for it. My question now is, how do I use it in the car?
The original Jag radio / cassette player in the car was replaced with a 2001 Blaupunkt CD/am/fm unit.
So, there is no visible control for the CD player in the trunk. How do I operate it from inside the car? There must be something missing. I recently removed the ski slope and found a black electrical cable with a cap on it that disappeared into the console going toward the back of the car. I suspect that this cable has something to do with the CD changer.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi!

My (limited) understanding is that the factory CD player is directly compatible with only a few radios. Since the aftermarket radio has a CD player itself I suspect the factory disc changer/player was simply abandoned.
Others will chime in, hopefully.

I think yo're seeing the cable for the optional factory cell phone

As Doug said.
The original factory head unit died, they do that. The stacker in the boot (trunk) will not operate with the current head unit.
Also as Doug said, very FEW head units are compatible with that stacker.
Mine died, so a Pioneer head unit with CD player, and front USB sits in the hole. An 8GB memory stick has a LOT MORE music that any stacker, and so much easier to control. No more CD's sliding around the cabin.
Somewhere in the console area will be the thick Din cable that attached to the stacker, but it may simply have been cut when the newer unit was fitted.
