How to replace fuel line at tank?
Hello,
I need to replace the fuel line that goes from the tank to the filter on my 1995 Vanden Plas. It looks like it might have a quick-connect fitting at the tank, possibly(?). It also looks like it is nearly impossible to reach. Can anyone offer me advice on how to replace this line?
Thanks,
Tony K.

Damn, 3rd post and you are getting SERIOUS with the Jag.
Look on this section for a post I made recently (few days ago) about those pipes/hoses, it may help a tad.
What is the reason you need to replace that piece of pipe, as it normally does not get damaged, unless some gorilla has busted the end at the filter.
The connection AT the tank is indeed a quick connect, and is a MONGREL to get at on any good day. There is a piece of British finest up there that will slice the crap out of your hand/s. The job is mainly done by feel.
Some have supported the car on sturdy safety stands and lowered the cradle by "loosening" the bolts, NOT REMOVING them, just undone a few turns to drop the cradle some to increase access.
Whichever way it is attacked FUN will be had, and vocabulary extension will be HUGE, and alcohol consumption will increase DRAMATICALLY, even if you dont drink.
A special tool is required, and available at any Auto Parts operation, and the 5/16" one is the size needed.
In ALL my years with Jaguar, this comes pretty high on my list of the DUMBEST things they have done, and I am fairly forgiving by nature.

Grant,
Thank you for the great advice. I looked at the other thread. My line was leaking on the insulated/flexible portion. I decided that before I spend a bunch of time shopping around to find the right tool and lying on the ground and fighting with the line, I'd look into just paying someone to do it.
I tip my hat to Dean at West End Rover & Jag in nearby Parma, Ohio, who was able to replace the line using an original factory part for a very reasonable price. It was well worth the time and hassle I saved.
