Default Hyper Blinking Turn signals - RESOLVED

Hello. As my issue is not the same as the other turn signal failure thread I decided to make a separate post to keep things organized.
All of my lights and signals work 100%, bulbs all work, everything seems good. My issue is that the passenger side indicators will blink at normal speed for a second (once or twice), and then start hyper blinking. I did have a couple lights out on the FR side but after i replaced them there was no change with the indicators. Would this be an issue with the main light control module, front light control module, or something else? It's not a major issue and I will be able to get the car past inspection like this just fine, but it irks me!

That is the classic description of a turn signal bulb failed warning. In this case you would also get the yellow bulb failure indicator on the left side of the instrument panel when the turn signal is engaged.

TWO bulbs are in each front turn signal. You probably knew that. But if only one bulb goes out, you get the hyper-blink and the dash warning.

Does the right side turn signal repeater light (on the fender) work? I don't know if it is wired into the bulb failure circuits, or not.

Do you see a front lighting control module behind the right side headlights? At some point that module was deleted and all functions were routed through the rear module.

I bet it's the plug/socket corrosion in the corner under the bumper, where the engine side loom joins bumper loom to which the front indicator is plugged in. Mine was doing the same thing, often unplugging and plugging it back is enough to get it working but I've ended up using a 1.5mm drill to clean the holes in the socket. Youll find these square sockets from underneath, you might have to remove the undertray to get better access to them, or simply move the wheel liner to side with the wheel turned to one side and you might just get them out enough to clean with some electronic contact cleaner.

Okay, thanks! I did not know the front indicator had two bulbs, so I will check that before anything else and hope it's that easy. I did have two other bulbs out so another wouldn't surprise me. The fender mounted indicator was out but that and the front parking light have been replaced. I will also see if I can check the front socket connections and make sure they're good as well. I do get the failed bulb indicator on the dash.

Sleekjag12 wins the prize! I got out and looked more closely at the turn signal and only one bulb is working on the passenger front indicator.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if the bulb turns out to be ok, mine was fine too

Turns out the bulbs were fine, but the contacts on the connector that attaches to the housing were bent on one pin. A simple push on the contacts to realign them and voila! My turn signals now work A-ok. One of the bulbs looked to be replaced previously so I'm guessing they forced the plug on reassembly. I replaced them both anyway and put the old bulbs aside as spares.

Too late Katar, I already won the prize!! Thanks for the update, 96. Jaguars should have "casual" blinking only.

Lol, ALL of the replies to this thread have been very helpful! I have to admit my heart sank when I got the bulb-holder out and the filaments were both intact, but I was very relieved to find a simple fix nonetheless. I was not looking forward to hunting corrosion in 20°F!
