I should state that I am looking for collector/classic policy, as this is a pleasure/club car and no where near a daily driver. I'm currently uninsured. I was cancelled for no valid reason,. Been with the insurer for over two years. I searched and found many comparable XJ6 cars and owners are going with Grundy. I applied, was give a $133/annum quote and then got this in the inbox:
DECLINED
Dear Mr. Sanderson,
Thank you for your application. After careful review your application has been declined for the
following:
1. Vehicle not in show condition.
2. Vehicle does not qualify for antique rates.
We are sorry we could not satisfy your needs.
Really! Most of you guys are using your cars as dailies. "Antique"! Give me a break. Anyone have any ideas. I think I need to contact Grundy and speak with a rep one on one and find out what this BS is about.

Well I have some terrible news for all you XJ owners. Your cars have no "Wow factor" (quoting the Grundy representative here) according to Grundy Insurance, and aren't worth even looking at twice. Might as well just throw in the towel and get that Prius, boys. Guess all those thumbs up on the road and at the pump are from morons and idiots. I'm so depressed.
Try JC Taylor. Back in the 90s, I was trying to get Agreed Value coverage on my modified Toyota Supra because I only intended to take it to shows and events. I called Hagerty first and was told quote "We don't insure Subarus!" I had to explain what a Supra was and then they said that except for Buick Grand Nationals, they didn't insure much of anything newer than about 1975. I tried Grundy too. I think they just never returned my call. Then I called JC Taylor and they had no problem taking my money. A few years later, I built a large metal building and started adding more cars. Of course now, Hagerty has caught up with Gen X tastes (probably as the boomers go into nursing homes) and they do a lot to support the hobby. I enjoy their videos on youtube and appreciate some of the promotion and lobbying they do. I got quotes from them and Grundy a year ago to switch when I added a sixth car and JC Taylor was still also the least costly. I don't know if they are still as open-minded about what makes a collector car as they were 25+ years ago (I still use the X308 like a regular car so its not on my classic policy). But its worth checking them out.
Your car doesn't fit their niche, move on to try another insurer and stop wasting energy on being pissed at a company. A company has no feelings and doesn't give a hoot if you're upset with it, it just does what it does 🤷
Put your energy into finding a company who wants to insure your car

Yeah, was going to call JCT next. Just read some not so flattering reviews. Thanks for the posts. Looking for economy here or I'd just go with my usual bundled Allstate policy.
I have an agreed value policy for my 1996 xj6 (x300) and my 1998 xk8 (x100) through Hagerty, their website is easy to navigate and get a quote online. They require that you own a regular every day vehicle aside from the Jag.
Hagerty and Grundy declined coverage for my W124 Benzes and my XJR.
I bet if it was an aircooled 911 and I wore leather driving gloves it would've
been a go!
