Default License Plate Light

I failed inspection today for a faulty license plate light (right/passenger side). I replaced the bulb and it's still not working. The left/driver side light does work. I'm guessing this is either a wiring or a fuse issue. I do not have an owner's manual so if someone could point me towards the location for the fuse(s) that operate that light I would be most grateful.

Thanks,

Brendan

I'm assuming that your tail lights are working as you didn't say they weren't. So that means it is not a fuse issue as they are on same fuse.

With Number plate lamps they can suffer from corrosion in the bulb holder. Try cleaning it well with what ever light abrasive you can get in there.

If you have a multi meter test for ground and 12v at the bulb holder and work backwards from there.

Hi Brendan,

If I were you, I would take off the carpeting on the trunk lid. You can easily see if there are any frays in the wiring there. Of course, this is assuming that the wiring on your trunk hinge is intact, as you haven't mentioned any problems there.

Have no power at the connector, and yes all other lights are working, so on to checking the wiring.

I had one of my number plate lights melt and fall out. They seem to get really hot.

I also replaced mine with Sylvania LED lamps, so they run cooler. These are the Sylvania LED lamps sold as auto parts shops, not the cheap lights on eBay, etc.
