Default Location of body processor

Apparently I have a dead body processor. I need to locate this so I can remove to verify part number needed, and obviously to replace it. So, 95 xj12, body processor locaton?

Hi Reid,

According to the electrical schematics, the Body Processor Module is located behind the passenger-side knee bolster or dash underscuttle. If you don't have the schematics, PM me and I'll send them to you.

Cheers,

Don

I looked under there and saw a module, but it is a LAB 2400BA, which I believe is another altogether different processor. Is it above this module, as in, I have to remove this one before I can see the body processor, or do I need to disassemble the knee pad to find the module? Thanks for your help.

Look at the photo in post #16 in the thread b1mcp provided the link for. I do believe you will need to remove the knee bolster, but that should not be difficult. I haven't had to do it yet on our '04, but I would assume the bolster is affixed with some "press rivets" or plastic "fir tree" fasteners that press into holes and just need to be gently pried out, but hopefully a someone who has already done this will describe the process for you. You might search this forum for instructions for removing the knee bolster.

Cheers,

Don

It is a black plastic box behind the airbag next to the climate control blower (passenger side).
It should have a yellow harness plug and a black one (and maybe one across the upper part??)

Be aware, They are considered Programmable Electronic Control UnitS (PECUS) and there are 18 variants (worldwide) according to the Parts Catalogue and the XJ6/12 Range 1995 MY Technical Introduction publication JLM 10 15 12/50.

From the Text on page 122.
"Software-18 variants providing for differences in audible and lighting warnings and levels of security."

You should probably get one from a very similar car.
