Default Lost my radio code - what can be done?!

After changing the battery on my XJR, I've predictably lost my radio code. Now seeing as my car has a bulging dealer pack including all the original ID cards etc I assumed (dangerous I know!) I'd have the radio code to hand. Er, no. Nothing.

Is there anything I can do to retrieve the code or am I fighting a lost cause? I have a new head unit to fit but am gathering all the bits for a full audio overhaul so don't want to fit it just yet - then again do I have a choice?!

I believe the dealer network can retrieve that code for you.

They will need the Vin # and proof of ownership, and maybe some other ID stuff??, and down here they charge for it.

That charge can be $100 I have heard, so that would certainly make that new system look sweeter in my opinion.

Your local dealer should be able to call up your code through your VIN. If they cannot then they ought be able to get it from the serial number on top of the radio itself. Failing both those scenaria then it can be retrieved through the Jaguar USA headquarters. You can Google that info with ease along with contact info.
This third avenue is how I was able to retrieve my code.
Neither my local dealer nor Jag in N.J. asked me for a dime for the courtesy.

I had the same problem here in Ireland. Rang one of the very few main dealers, they asked for the reg number and gave me the code in two minutes, free gratis.

barondess:
I don't think you will get a radio code for an X-300 from "Jaguar USA headquarters", since US cars did not have security radios.

Hey,

Most of the times pre owners write the code in some of the service books, have you had a second checko on that? I had the same problem, and overlooked the code. Its a 4 digit code.

If you really cant find it the jaguar dealer can try to find it in their system, if they cant find it I believe they have to order it at some headquarter which costs money.

Atleast that is what a Jaguar dealer workmen told me last time i lost the code.

Being a UK JF member you have a direct link to Jaguar
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...-crc-uk-82019/
so if your local Dealer won't help try Nicola.

Once you've got the code, if the radio won't accept it the radio is probably broken. If it accepts it after a few attempts, it's on the way out.

I'm told they can no longer be repaired either.

Best of luck!

With apologies for being late on parade (we've been away)
Take another look at your Dealer docs. It is quite normal to find the radio code scrawled on the inside front cover of the "Audio equipment" book in big black numbers.
Good luck and don't forget to let us know what happened.
