Smile Moving to sunny Phoenix

Hey guys, in about a month and half my younger brother and I will be moving from Buffalo, NY to Phoenix.

I've always run Castrol SYNTEC 10W-40 year round in Buffalo, as it is stored in my garage during winter months.

Should I consider switching to a heavier 20W-50 considering half the year in Arizona is in the 80-100 degree range??

Hope your move to Phoenix (It's nice now but you'll be sorry come July) goes well for you. It gets a little warm here. I use 15-40 in my XJ8 and that what my book calls for in this climate. Seems to work fine.

Well, you will have lots of other owners there to wave to. It's like JagLand. My Kitty spent her first five years there. She didn't much like the 100+ degree summers but loved the smooth pavement (no expansion joints).

Good luck with the move.

I'd run 20w-50 no matter where you live.

anything lighter, and you may experience issues with the timing chain tensioners, being that they are hydraulic operated based on oil pressure.

Hey guys thanks for the info. Funny you should mention July. My move in date is July 1st.

I've been to Phoenix a few times, absolutely love it out there. Latest I was ever there was May. I was in Scottsdale for the Barrett Jackson Auction this past January. That was a blast. I am traveling back the 2nd week of this upcoming May to look at a few places and seal the deal on a 1-year lease house.

As of right now I will be obtaining my dealers license and starting a mobile detailing business part-time on weekends. That has always been a dream to have my own place and do both. Automobile heaven.

Hey everyone, man I haven't been on here to enjoy the company of Jag owners in a while! The last month or so I have been finishing up some loose ends for the mobile detailing business I've started back here in Buffalo, NY. My move to Phoenix is being postponed to October 1st as the move in date, instead of originally July. This way I can test the waters in Buffalo with mobile detailing, which there is not anything remotely close to speak of here. It's going great so far.

Definitely am getting excited about Phoenix at the end of summer though, where I can do what I love year round out there. I know a couple members are in sunny Phoenix I spoke to a while back! I figured it was probably a better decision to move in October vs. 100+ degree temps in July in order to adapt! Scratched the whole dealers license idea for now and will be sticking to what I really enjoy doing.

I don't think any members are in Buffalo, but if you'd like to see the site I designed for Full Throttle Mobile Auto Detailing, link is below! Hope to be on more frequently.
