Smile My Jag just had a birthday

This month my X300 (XJ6) is twenty years old. The build date on the door is November 1994. So this "95" X300 is one of the first ones built. She now has 128K miles and still runs and drives great while being beautiful besides. Still get compliments from strangers about her looks. The wife loves the car and wants me to put it in like new condition.

Like to hear from anyone that has an earlier build date. Maybe mine is the oldest X300 on the forum.

Funnily enough I was about to write a similar post as my car had it's 20th birthday on 31st Oct (based on Registration date). Don't know when it was built.

I've been putting together some details of my car which I have rebuilt and will be posting later this evening.

You guys got me beat. Mine's a January 1995 build. We're all members of the no glove box club.

The build date is on the inside edge of the drivers door along with the paint and trim code.

All the MY95s are now 20! I suggest we have a contest where the forum will buy JDHT Heritage certificates for a few winners who own the oldest 1995 models!

BTW, my 1995 is numerically only the 345th X300 built (as a USA X305), based on the starting VIN for X300 of 720125. Thats a build date of 7/1994!!

I agree. Let's see what our response is and work on some ground rules. I didn't realize they were built so far back into 1994. Thanks for the start VIN on these cars. That is good info. Based on that start VIN mine was the 9280 X300 built. I was wondering if this includes the 3.2L European models. Mine is a 4.0L.

R237, You and I are pretty much on the same track. Both with XK8s along with the X300. Both of these cars, for different reasons, are the greatest looking cars that have been built in the last 40 years, IMHO.

Very nice, and such high mileage numbers attained too. Very encouraging as mine is nearing 64,000 miles and I want to keep it a decade.

The inline 6 makes a charming sound whereas my prior 4.0 litre supercharged engine was dominated by the ugly power drill sound of the supercharger. The XJ6 is a pleasure to drive.
