needing new tires need opinions
Well im in need of new tires,
Im thinking of downsizing and getting these
Falken Azenis PT-722 235/50R17
they seem to have good tread life. and im not looking for much of a sporty feel. i just want them to last awhile.
any other recommendations?

For what it's worth, I put 2 of these (Goodyear Eagle GT (V)) on the back of my car, and they've lasted well so far. They've also been quiet, and good on grip. If you care, I can check and see how they've lasted, but I can't seem to remember now. On the front, I've got some Coopers that are pretty horrible in the wet.

i have these on both my XJ40 and my X300 and I'm satisfied, they grip well, seem to be lasting a long time, reasonably quiet and not too bad on price. I've had them for about 2 years now

The tire dilemma for XJR
Well,
As an absolute supporter of the Michelin PS/2 on my '04 XJR, I've been shopping the options for this summer season. Pirellis are sticky and wear out too quickly. Michelin's are sticky and seem to last. The good Year's were on the car for 1 day and I'll never buy them again.
I've been down the path of All-Seasons and Summer's only. And quite frankly,All Season's do not maintain its track well enough for me.
So this season (Yes, price point had something to do with it) I am going to try a season with the Continentals ExtremeContact DW.
The dilemma is this:
Car calls for 255/40R19'S. What does the group think of 285/35R19's?
Incidentally I did sell the 20" rims... I got tired of the game of repairing blistered tires and bent rims.
Cheers to All in the Jaguar brotherhood.
Guy.
2001 S-Type R (British Raging Green, of course)
2004 XJR (Jaguar Raging Green)
On a personal note: I had the car completely re-sprayed this winter. 5 coats of colour and 4 coats of clear. The complete tear-down and rebuild shows zero signs of overspray, misfitting parts or orange peel. The car looks better than when it was in the showroom.

Michelin Pilot Sport from TireRack
I have used the best Michelins appropriate on two Lexus rear-drive sedans, a Porsche Boxster and now an XKR. They are quiet, they last, they perform and they work when the temp gets cold and below freezing. Many performance tires are so bad at 40 degrees it is a joke. And many require getting warm too. For a daily driver, that is pathetic. Need to save $? Fine, then buy the tread from TireRack.com instead of chain like Discount Tire (where the extra $ spent covers lifetime rotation and balance and good accident protection).

Hi,
Just a late reply to this.
Bought 4 new Gerruti 225x60x16 W98 for EUR 320 delivered. Had them fitted / balanced yesterday for EUR 60 + EUR 55 for re-aligning the front.
EUR 435 in all, iss like abt EUR 110 each tire.
If they last me 2 years, that is EUR 55 per tire per year, which I consider inexpensive.
Takeo.
