New X300 owner with an Air Conditioning problem
First off, hi to the forum! A new Jag owner from sunny Glasgow, Scotland.
I've just got hold of a 97 XJ6 Sport (3.2) with 80k on the clock and it is in good order. Some rust on the front arches but otherwise good bodywork.
However, along with the common tensioner rattle on warm startup, there is no cold air coming from the air conditioning system. I conducted the self-test and it showed error codes 23 and 24 (I noticed a post in the XKR section, https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=36420, but as I am new i cant get the files to open!).
There is no noise when I turn the air con on and the air is not cold at all. It does provide heat and all the vents work, but it produces no cooling whatsoever. I was going to book an air con service but am not sure if this is worthwhile.
Any suggestions/help appreciated!!
Barrie

Normal manufacturer recommendation is to check air-con for correct amount of refrigerant gas about every 2 years, but nobody seems to bother until a poor owner down the line somewhere finds there is no cooling, in which case it is re-gas time. Only thing with a 97 car is that at 13 years old there may be a leak. Air con specialists should check for leaks at the service using high pressure nitrogen to see if the pressure drops once the system is charged with the nitrogen. Common culprit is the condenser at the front of the car where road salt first rots away the fins then the actual tubes.
