Default No reverse lights - manual gearbox

Hi all, I’ve noticed that my new to me XJ6 doesn’t have any reverse lights. I’ve checked the bulbs, and fuse 17 in the left hand side heel board and both are ok. Is there anything else I can try to help diagnose the issue? I suspect it’s related to the reverse switch on the manual gearbox, but if there’s something else I can check first that would be great.

If it is likely to be the switch, does anyone know the part no.? I can’t seem to find one online. Thanks!

Edit: Another symptom, I had someone stand behind the car whilst I operated the gear lever in and out of reverse, apparently the left side light came on but only once.

So I’ve located the part no. for my car, LHE6590AA. Unfortunately this part is no longer available anywhere. I’ve found a part on eBay for an older Jag but with the same Getrag 290 box, DAC3476.

Will this older switch fit my car? My thought is that if it physically fits and the only difference is the electrical connector, I may be able to adapt something for the wires to go to. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks !
