Default non-cup holder arm rests?

Looking online, I see XJ6 X300 arm rests in the UK-Ebay without cup holders. Are these interchangeable with the cup-holder arm rests here? If so, I'd consider swapping them out. I don't really need a cupholder, especially if it doesn't work well.

The XJ40 1988 to 1993 had NO cupholders here in the U.S.
The trim colors might be different but can be dyed to match the interior.
The XJ40 console lids have magnets so the latches are different.

It looked to me that the UK versions of the X300 may not have had cup holders so I was hoping it was a straight swap. I don't think I want to get into dying an XJ40 arm rest to match , though I could probably live with the different latch if it just meant that the arm rest used gravity to stay down....

UK ones don't have cup holders, that's true, but I've read somewhere here that the locking mechanism will not match... So it could bounce around on the bumps... I can get you some close up pictures of mine in few days if you want!

The catch on the centre console is different on the non-cupholder version. It has a magnetic catch and not the plastic 'hook' design used on the cupholder type.

The console catches are interchangeable and use the same fixing screws. You would need both the parts shown to the right of the lid.

Please, let us know how it works out. And, if you are able and willing to get an extra for me, I'd appreciate it (and paypal money of course).

The Japanese market X300,s did not have cup holders on their X300 models
I have been searching for one with the right colour in the meantime I modified my arm rest I made a tiny pair of brackets to hold it in place I also put a very small screw in the catch which I used a dremmel on to shape it now does not pop open on every bump and is very sturdy took me an afternoon and some thinking but works very well
The cup holders are still pretty useless for holding cups unless the cups are very short anything tall just falls over but at least it doesn't fly open or fall apart every bump
