Default Oil pressure periodically reads 0

Starting just this morning, the oil pressure warning light periodically lit while the gauge, which only ever reads half (or 4, straight up), dropped to 0. Then, after a moment or two, the light went out and the gauge went back to normal. I pulled over, waited about 5 minutes and checked the oil level which was full.

Is it fair to assume I have a failing oil pressure sensor/sender? Is this a common or known issue on X300s?

Is it a time consuming job to replace the sensor (assuming that's what it is)?

Thanks in advance,
Rhett

Yup, common thing. Sensor doesn't cost much. There was few threads about it before.

Thanks in advance,

I just posted the info and TSBs about a week ago on this same topic (different thread).

The 1995 X300 (V) 720001 - 746613 have the pressure transducer.
Subsequent cars were fitted with switches and the INST PACK was reprogrammed to suit.

thanks for the advice! Passed on that one . I didn't really want a running car so I wasn't tempted to restore it. It didn't have enough useable parts for me to buy it even for $700
