One-half 0W-30 oil OK for winter?
Hello,
While perusing the Bob is the Oil Guy ( BITOG) forums over the last 18 months or so I have noticed the oil that gets the most amazing reviews is German Castrol 0W-30. Last Saturday while on an outing to the local Autozone to pick up a bottle of car wash soap I spotted two bottles of it for about $6.39 per quart so what I am considering doing is for the next cold-season oil change from about late September to mid-April is a 50/50 mix of the GC 0W-30 and Mobil 1 10W-30, the only issue is that in the owner's manual on page 32 there's a chart that says 5W-30 is only good for up to 50 degrees F., nothing is said about 0W-30, so the concern is might this mixture be too thin?
Also, I should mention it's a 1995 XJ6 with 116,000 miles that consumes virtually no oil.

You really should stick to a 40 weight oil in this car. I personally run Mobil 1 Ow-40. if you live in a place like Florida run a 50 weight. The first number can be low, actually the lower the better. The cold oil can circulate easier if it's thinner.
