Default P1187 Code - O2 Sensor

salP3082, please get back asap and let me know what you did to fix those codes, I'm having an issue with my upstreams, i keep getting the darn p1187 code too, i cleaned the o2s and i keep reseting the comp, but she still keeps popping up. I'm starting to wonder if we should just put in new o2 sensors and be done with it..

Hi Marco,

I am moving your post to your own thread on the topic of the P1187 Code since salP3082's main problem is that his car won't start and it is helpful to keep each thread on topic for the sake of clarity, brevity, and future archive searches.

Have you searched the forum for previous references to P1187?

You can also look up the possible causes of the code in the X300 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Summaries manual available free from this forum at this link:

The X300 Workshop Manual can be downloaded here:

The X300 Diagnostic Manual gives a procedure for pinpointing issues with O2 sensors. I think it is also available for free download from this forum.

Since the P1187 code indicates a problem with both upstream O2 sensors, and since it is unlikely both sensors would fail simultaneously, I would suggest you first check for a problem with electrical connectors, grounds, wiring harness shorts, or the electrical connector for the MAFS.

Cheers,

Don
