P1193 code
My 19 YO son just got his first car and I am trying to help him sort out any problems it may have. The car in question is a '95 XJ6. The engine is throwing a P1193 code, yet the car runs great. The trac fail light is on as well as the trac off. Also the ABS light is on. Both these come on at the same time after clearing code. Anyone have any ideas. Boy, he's as proud as a peacock with that car. Just trying to help him out.

P1193 has several possible causes according to JTIS21- the factory manual. You can download the manual from either the XK8 or XJ8 forum sticky.
It could be the downstream emission sensors, the mafs, or possible a timing issue. It appears to be saying the exhaust temp is too high, which of course could damage the catalytic converters. I hope some one with more experience can help.
The abs/trac fault could be wheel speed sensors need cleaning, connecting cables open circuit, or solder connections to abs pump are bad.
I repaired my abs module last year by drilling a hole in the case opposite the pins for the pump and repairing the solder connection on the pins. Here is a pdf of the repair on a XKR. It's very similar.

You can send the module to several ebay vendors for testing and repair, or locate a working used one with the same part no.
