Default petrol leak

i have a petrol leak under the car coming from the fuel line where it plugs into the tank. it is not the first time it has done this. and it is in such a hard place to work with my hand barely fits to gain acess to where the leak is coming from. the last time it did this i wiggled the line and it stopped. what are the parts to be replaced here? I don't remember seeing any rubber seal on the tip of the fuel line.

im at the point of frustration thinking I should remove the tank and fit an NPT adapter to use a braided fule line from the tank to the fuel filter.

Its called a "stuffer pin", and the part # is EBC9606, and there are 2 per tank.

I reckon tank out to replace them, but I have never done it so simply a guess on my part.

thanks, that is exactly the problem, had a look down there and the line comes loose, can see the "pin" is bad. its a very tight fit to work down there but i think i can pull the "pin" out with pliers and then push a new "pin" that is of course if the replace process is pull and push.

UUUUUUUMMMMMM.

I doubt it.

My reason is that on the inside of the tank, where these pins are protruding, is a hose attached with a clamp.

One is the HI pressure fuel TO the engine. The other is the LO pressure fuel return FROM the engine.

Either way, you will need to get inside the tank to do those connections.

managed to do it from under the car. removing the metal clip and unbending it then clipping it back in. didnt have to remove the tank since the only damage thing was the metal clip holding the line in place.

just replaced them, crazy easy to replace after removing the tank. no need to go inside the fuel tank. just remove the metal retainers and pull the 2 o-rings and 2 spacers with tool. i didnt have the tool so i used a spare multimeter needle tip and bent the tip 90 degree so i could pull the spacers out. then just lube and insert the new one in. the hardest part was the local shop charging me $50 for the pair of pin-stuffers!!! im still hurting about it.

This little fuel leak problem is driving me mad... after replacing both stuffer pins i get no more fuel leak i can see under the car but now i get a very strong fuel smell inside the cabin. Im thinking that the tank is still leaking fuel from the stufferpin but somehow it is now falling inside the trunk. I cant.think of anything else that could be happening.

Default leak fixed?

Did you solve the problem? I'm about to replace the stuffer pins and wonder if I need to reconnect the hoses from inside the tank or just replace the pins. My lines are very loose in the pins and leak profusely. The lines themselves were also cut and repaired haphazardly. Replacing them with steel covered lines did not fix the leak.

yes fixed the problem it ended up being the fuel return line. the tip of the line where it has a ring to make it clip on the stufferpin had a tiny hole. replaced the line and it was fixed.

to replace the stuffer pins just pull them out, chek the holes for debris make sure it is clean before inserting the new stuffer pins. be carefull not to scratch the insides of that hole when you are removing the old stuffer pins. all is done from outside the tank.
