Default I say go for it.

Well Dave, keep looking for those XJ12s. I bought mine while I owned a perfectly good XJ6! And now the XJ12 is my one and only. I drove the six most of the time for years, as it was a lovely car, and easier on gas. But when I sold it, I found myself very pleased to be driving the XJ12 all the time. It is an even lovelier car by margins.

If you already own an X300, you will be just fine if you decide to upgrade to the X305. Nothing to be afraid of. Not even the cost of gas. It doesn't bother me in the least!

As for eventually buying another Jag, I think it would be very difficult for me to find another that would satisfy me as much as my XJ12 does. Although I'm willing to try.

Just finding an X305 for sale is a very difficult task, that's how rare these cars on. The closest thing I can compare it to is a W12 VW Phaeton.
