Query regarding Hood Leapers
My leaper has some pitting and damage to the chrome and is looking in need of repair/replace.
I was looking at getting rechromed, which is a cost of about $200 AU
where as a brand new on from Jag equates to about $800 AU
I have seen some places selling reproduction leapers for the Stype, and i was wondering are these the same?
i can see that the locating pin is in a different place on both.
but it is hard to tell if the leaper itself sits on the same angle and is exactly the same or maybe similar.
looks like the S-Type leaper sits up on a higher angle from the base
can anyone confirm?

The base teardrop shape looks the same but the S type may be smaller overall
I'll measure my spare
The earlier design not to use as the jaguar is different has a square base
Notice your pilot hole post on the bottom is located further aft

do you happen to know if the angle difference is noticeable and does it look bad? or just different when compared side by side?
was not concerned too much bout the pilot hole. I would happily enough drill a new one.
from what i could see they are the same part number.

In my opinion if you got the earlier version, you would be disappointed as it is not the real deal being smaller and not as proud like on the X300 / X308 as Motorcarman ( Bob ) mentioned
Just got back from salvage yard and got a pic of the earlier leaper next to a X300 / X308 as the earlier was removed and could take a nose to nose pic on phone camera
there is a pretty good size difference if i can get the pic off my phone
There was some S - types in the row over i did not think to look at , should be returning in a couple days anyway
The X300 / X308 has the pilot post towards the rear as your first pic
There are 5 X300 / X308s to pic from in the yard and one specific X300 in leaper excellent condition that still has your seatbelt latch and parking brake switch not removed yet
Checked on shipping cost a 10 lb box to you by US government postal service as 130 .00 US dollars

Your last message a few minutes ago did not come through for some reason
If you look at your driver door master controller it has a switch board black carrier with a side specific curve on the outboard edge
the switch board removes from the carrier , to pull the carrier from the side panel is involved
there are tiny little pieces on the window rocker switches for them to make
this from memory on my behalf
If the master controller connector points outboard that would be an issue , better if the connector was aft

i will be taking my door trim off soon to replace speakers (in a few weeks)
so then maybe i can take the switchpack apart. but as i mentioned the memory works to save and call the mirror and steering wheel.
but yeah would be most happy to get a x300 leaper in good condition.

What I found on my driver door master controller some time back was the car side connector lock bar that holds the connector pins in position was loose allowing the pins to migrate away from contact
This was on a window issue
The lock bar will be obvious when you see it without having to take the carrier out or the switch board from the carrier
