Exclamation quick answer please--lugnut problem

Posted in general but thought I might post here also. The caps are spinning on the lug nuts. Car is down at the tire shop, they can't get two of the wheels off. The cover caps are spinning on the lugs. We decided he should try to pop the caps off. Is this the correct thing to do? They are in the process of doing this now. Will it work? is there a proper way to do this? will I be able to find replacements? Need help quick---I can still call him back! Thanks--Scott--95 x300
