Default Rear edge Boot Lid Jammed hard against body

So today, had to pull up the boot lid so hard 3-4 times until it 'popped' open. The Rear edge of my boot Lis Jammed against body, and tightly, when closed.
What adjustments can I make on the hinges and bolts to fix ?

Sides are normal gap back is Jammed on back edge 3-4 pulls to get it will pop free and open

rear has no gap; water won't even go in

The curved hinges should have without looking a serrated mount to make adjustment

how you would hold the trunk up to adjust is another matter

See if you can mark your present serration position before " loosing it "

Something like this generic pic off the internet , not X300

G'day Vick,

The boot lid is attached to the hinges on each side by two bolts which pass through the hinge arm into a bracket with captive nuts and it seems that if you loosen these bolts you may be able to reposition the boot lid.

The boot hinge is attached to the car body by four bolts each side and the doesn't appear to be any scope for adjustment there though there may be some.

What I would do is remove the boot lid liner, to get a better idea of what is needed and what can be adjusted, and then with the necessary bolts just loose enough to move the boot lid a bit conscript a volunteer, with a torch, to curl up in the boot while you close the lid and reposition it and when you are happy have your assistant tighten some of the bolts. Then open the boot to release your claustrophobic friend and tighten the remainder of the bolts. Your problem should no be solved.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Jeff,
The hinges have single hole bolt openings, I got the bolts loose but was only able to move the boot lid a very bit to the rear, but that was enough, and your idea Worked !! Opens and closes just fine now.
Thanks for the advice.

G'day Vick,

Great that you got your trunk/boot adjusted so it fits.

Interesting though, I just checked my car and each hinge definitely has two bolts attaching them to the trunk/boot lid.

Cheers,
Jeff.

yes I meant that the bolt holes are a single round shape, not oblong like some, so not much wiggle room

G’day Vick,

Yeah you’re right there is not much wiggle room but enough to sort your problem. 👍

Cheers,
Jeff.
