Default Recommended oil for XJ6R?

I just bought a '95 XJR and would like some input on recommended engine oil for this car. Should I go synthetic? I've always used Castrol GTX 20/50 in all my British vehicles.

First and foremost, "read the handbook", or "google" any oil company you like and drill down your car and see what they suggest.

I run 10W/40 Synthetic in my AJ16 (192k kms), all year round.

I run the same oil in the mighty V12 (254k kms) also, despite many flaming me regularly for that.

The PreHE V12 gets whatever is on special, and at 500k kms who cares.

The MK10, well last time I changed it, 20W/50 super special, and NO IDEA of the mileage, doesnt work.

Look up "Bob is the oil guy", and have a read. NO CONNECTION OR WHATEVER.

IMHO, the best engine oil is whatever name brand is on sale that day :-). I use 10/30 or 10/40.

Tons of reading in the archives. Everyobdy has their own opinion...sometimes very scientific and based on lots of research, sometimes based on what grandpa said was best when he had a '53 Hudson....and everything in between :-)

Cheers
