Default Reverse Lights

Hi fellow enthusiasts, The lockdown is giving me plenty of opportunity to do jobs that I had been meaning to do for some time. The latest is to add reversing/parking sensors to my 1996 X330. All had gone well with the installation until I decided to hook up the wiring! I find that I do not have operational reverse lamps!! So, my questions are a) where is the fuse for the lamps, and b) if it is not a blown fuse, where do the lights get the signal to illuminate? I assume the signal comes from the gearbox somewhere. Cheers and happy, busy isolation to one and all. Keep tinkering. Alec G.

I had a response from Steve Howard from the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club - he said that there was a 10 amp fuse in the left hand rear fuse box that controls the reverse lights. This had blown. So I replaced the blown fuse and I have reverse lights again. Since I do not have any more 10 amp fuses, I am going to replenish my stocks before attempting to wire up the reverse/parking sensors. I hope this helps others. I repeat that the owners manual does not indicate the whereabouts of the reverse light fuse.Alec G.

Excellent result, well done. Which fuse number was it, and do you mean the left healboard fusebox?

The affected fuse is in the left - hand heelboard. It is on the lower row and second in from the left. I could not read the fuse number, dodgy eyes and poor body flexibility, but looking at my "Vehicle Care" booklet, it appears to be F2. This is rated at 10 amps and is stated to cover the heated door mirrors and instrument illumination dimmer. I hope that makes it as clear as mud! Alec G.
