Default Review of genuine lower radiator hose MNA4510BF

Not sure if this was a one off, but this is the second genuine Jaguar part in my last two orders that have failed or didn't fit. Basically I noticed the hose was leaking coolant after a few days. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y7n...ew?usp=sharing

The other issue being the lower pendulum bush that was too loose (see my other thread).

In both cases, an OEM / aftermarket part worked perfectly even though it was much cheaper. Not sure about the ultimate longevity but at least its holding up for now.

My faith in genuine JLR classic parts is definitely shaken. I've written in to request for a refund and will report here on my experience with them.

Were did you get the hose from? It doesn't look anything like the quality of the one I got last year from jaguar classic parts.

I recently acquired some parts from Jaguar classic parts, and they were made in India. I have not had any problem with them hitherto, but the originals were definitely not made there, which highlights that not all Jaguar classic parts are truly OEM, except in the narrow sense that anything bought for a Jaguar from Jaguar can be thought of as OEM.

To be fair they were very prompt in processing the refunds. I am glad they stood by the warranty!

I'm pretty sure that (a lot of) what Jaguar is selling via JDHT Classics is "URO" brand (parent company APA).

URO stuff has an iffy reputation.

Cheers

Worth keeping an eye on this, as the one thing Jaguar Classic parts are for sure is expensive!

Kopi, were these shipped from England or is there a more local JLRC that you used, and if shipped from England are they paying the return postage?

They were shipped from England, but unfortunately no return postage.

Few if any of the X300 service parts currently available from Jaguar are made by the Original Equipment Manufacturers, which literally means the manufacturers of original parts used when a vehicle was assembled in the factory. OEMs tend to be large multinationals focused on huge economies of scale. Once demand falls below a threshold, it no longer makes sense for an OEM to continue producing a part. That is where aftermarket specialists step in. As Doug alluded, Üro Parts boasts in its own PR statements that it now supplies replacement parts to Jaguar. And rubber parts seem to be their specialty: hoses, bushings, etc. Since the Üro Parts brand was founded by A.P.A. in 2004, it could not possibly have been an X300 OEM.

X300 hose OEMs might have included companies like BTR/Dunlop, Ltd. (U.K.), Continental AG (Germany), Gates Corp. (Belgium), etc.

Cheers,

Don

The original hoses on my X300 have the Dunlop D moulded in them - all the factory original hoses seem to be excellent quality. In many ways, I'd rather use a 25 year old original than a new Uro.
