Let me explain how "anyone knows you erased the code light".
When you do so, the OBD system enters a "readiness check needed" mode and sets P1000. I don't know about your PA exempt status, but that is a special circumstance. Most of us with real emissions test will not pass with a recently reset OBD system because they scan the car and will get the P1000 code.

And to add.... once codes are cleared (whether a CEL is lit or not) it takes some time based on distance, time and number of times (or a similar combination) driven called the "drive cycles" for the P1000 code itself to clear. You can try to "clear" the P1000, although I don't think you can, and even if so you are just resetting it to start its "timer" so it is pointless.
The P1000 code is a safeguard designed to keep people from just clearing the CEL and other codes immediately prior to the inspection and thus hiding an issue. Thus if you have an ongoing issue the CEL and other relevant codes will have time to set before the P1000 clears itself.
Here is an interesting thread as it relates to the X308:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...e-p1111-36127/
As I understand it, the P1000 drive cycles can vary by manufacturer and I suspect model, and I don't know what drive cycle parameters the X300 uses before the P1000 will clear. That actually would be interesting to know if anyone does.
