Default Servicing 192K KM / 120K Miles

Hi everyone

I am about to do the 192K KM servicing on my car. I have looked for the service list and found the following :

-Oil change
-Oil filter
-Fuel filter
-Fuel cleaning fluid
-Spark plugs
-Brake fluid
-Cooling fluid
-Wiper blade

Now I know on the last 172K km service I also changed the spark plugs, is this really necessary to do again?

What about the cooling fluid refresh? In the history of my car I have not found a Cooling fluid refresh. When I look at the water its not dirty and looks fine, why do I want to change this?

Anything else smart to do or wise to look while at it?

Cheers!

At the age of the car and mileage covered, I would use a little common sense.

The spark plugs are generally good for 40K kms or better, dependant on fuels used.

I would add a transmission service to the list.

Diff oil would be a good idea also.

Most coolants have a life of approx 4 years. The colour means something, and the fact it is nice and clean is good, but I would drain and refill with new to spec coolant.

I would omit the fuel cleaning fluid, as I rarely use any of those additives, but its your car.

Some grease in the 4 fittings on the half shaft joints would also be an excellent idea.

Wiper refill, well, I do mine every start of winter.

The spark plugs can wait. I think the suggested interval is 48000 km.

I change my engine antifreeze every 2 years even when it looks clean. I don't recall what the factory suggested interval is.

I would add a few items to your list unless you're sure they've been done within the last 48000 km :

-Change differential oil

-Change transmission oil

-Repack front wheel bearings

Cheers

Thanks for the fast replies guys, I will certainly add those to my list!

I have noticed the bearings from the diff on the right shaft needs to be replaced also. I have discovered some sweating over there. Is this something that has to be done soon?

Bearing or seal?

A bit of oil seepage from the differential output shaft seal (if that's the area you're talking about) is nothing to be alarmed about. If it turns into an actual dripping leak you might want to take action....or at least increase the frequency of checking/topping-off the differential oil.

Cheers

When you are changing the differential lubricant, make sure you clear the breather ... the seepage may well disappear after that since a clogged breather will push lubricant past the seal.

That would be an output shaft seal.

As mentioned, I wouldn't worry much about a bit of seepage.
