so electrical bugs, yeah? lately my '95 xj6 has had an issue with the shifter lock. i'll depress the brake like normal, it clicks, it lets me out of park just fine, but for about the first 5 - 8 minutes of driving i can hear that shifter lock engaging and disengaging on it's own....

ever heard a pinball machine when the ball get stuck and it tries to go through all the mechanical bits to try and unstick your ball ? it souds a bit like that. *clickclickclickclick* pause.... *clicketyclicketyclick* and repeat. also, i can hear it every time i put my foot on the brake/release the brake.

doesn't seem to be fully engaging though as i'm able to shift through gears just fine, get it in and out of park no trouble... it just goes off randomly, then quits doing it as the car 'settles in'.

any ideas? i don't want to go tinkering around too much and awaken the electrical beast, but man is that obnoxious.
