Thank you for the reminder. AL NZ and I both have LNA1620AA with the 70401C label as our on-car original Airflow Meter, but I have seen used MAF with the 70401B label instead in some of the eBay listings.

Update: Airflow meter is not my problem. See this thread "Engine Hesitation - coils or airflow meter". Anyhow, salute to forum member "Rustyxjc" for his airflow meter that has helped eliminate airflow meter as the problem of my engine running issue.

As part of my ongoing "dies at slowing to idle" challenge, I think I'll get the World Car Parts XJR6 MAF since it is so (relatively) inexpensive at about $115USD, and $30USD extra with expedited shipping from the UK:

A post in another "dies at idle" thread mentioned that changing the MAF, plugs and O2 sensors cured their problem but the owner wasn't sure which of the three really fixed it. So I'll just get the MAF as preventative maintenance anyway since mine is 22 years and almost 100k miles old. I'll post if changing the MAF has any positive effect on my problem.

Glad to see someone is making these again at a reasonable cost.

Yeh, the MAF is back in stock but there aren't many left. Let us know whether WorldCarParts' MAF cures your problem.

Will do, I've got it ordered, and it is scheduled for delivery by July 5th.

Looks like others have posted that even after a year or more their World Car Parts MAF is working fine. So hopefully it is a quality long lasting product.

I should say i bought a brand spanking new maf from ebay also. it was around 100 dollar. it lasted for one week and then made the car stall again. Went to the scrapyard and bought a used one and everything was fine again.

My very cheap ebay obd reader gave me a code for o2 sensors. Like mentioned previously, after changing plugs, maf(original one) and O2 sensors the problem with dying at idle was cured.

Sometimes engine stalling has multiple causes and when one particular issue fell below the threshold of performance the engine stalls. Our X300 and XJR6 are over 20 years' old and good used MAFs are not easy to find and our wish is it can last a bit longer than ours. When factory original are no longer available, we are just plain lucky to have aftermarket products to choose from. There are actually many offerings on the web that rebuild your MAF, ECU, relay, etc, there isn't much secret in car electronics. It is a matter of quality of material, workmanship and quality control. The market justifies the product.

I bought an aftermarket airflow sensor for my X350 last year trying to cure my engine stalling problem and it worked just one week. The following week the car died a few times while on the road and after putting the original back there was improvement and on further investigation the "Restricted Performance" was actually caused by an air leak under the plastic air duct which had become brittle and started breaking into pieces. All previous attempts trying to replace O2 sensors, spark plugs, and the airflow sensor, air filter were actually unnecessary. Whatever, incrementally we are able to narrow down the issues and eventually find the real problem.

That said, I understand AL NZ down south has good experience with the MAF supplied by WorldCarParts. It is kind of an "experience product" and if the one received is not working the natural response is to ask for a replacement and only until it is confirmed that it does not work would we ask for a refund and state our honest opinion in the online reviews.

Received the World Car Parts MAF, and installed in a few minutes. Unfortunately it did not resolve my issue, but the replacement MAF does seem to work fine.

Thought I'd update this. For anyone looking for a new standard MAF, the Range Rover P38 MAF which cost ~£50 and is easily available, works very well with X300 N/A cars.An extra groove in the plastic air filter box for MAF orientation has to be cut out as the P38 maf sits the other way around with the plug towards coolant reservoir.

Hi Kartar83,
This is an interesting suggestion. Do you know for sure that the transfer function of the two airflow meters are the same for the Land Rover P38 engine and the naturally aspirated Jaguar AJ16 engine. It seems quite possible, as both engines had similar power outputs, so probably similar max airflows. The engine management systems for both cars were developed by Lucas at the same time.

I couldn't find any info re P38 MAF voltages but according to internet it does seem to share some part numbers with Jag. Also as you say it does have similar BHP so I've decided to give it a try. Car runs perfectly fine, live fuelling data suggests its ok too hence my conclusions. I'm using it for the past 2-3 months now, that's ~2500 miles and cant say a bad word about it.

If the long term fuelling corrections are less than 10% and short term fuelling corrections cycle either side of zero, then that's as good a test as any. Sounds like katar83 has discovered an alternative to the unavailable MAF for naturally aspirated AJ16 engines. Good call.

I contacted World Car Parts today to get one for my XJR6 and they don't have them; any other ideas?

Other than the Range Rover alternate mentioned a few posts ago, or finding a used one on eBay, or reaching out to the several vendors mentioned on this thread, some of which specifically recommend to contact them directly to ask if they have one since they might not have updated their online inventory?

No. No other ideas.

oh wait, have you checked the classifieds on this forum? There’s a guy parting out a facelift as we speak.

Mine's the supercharged one so the Range Rover one won't work apparently.

Was that for a 4.0 or 4.6 Range Rover? Or are they the same part number?
