Spongy Gas Paddle
The gas peddle on my xjr feels spongy I realise that that might sound strange but there's know other word I can think of to explain it. It feels heavy to push down (spongy) and the the RPM are slow to peel off. Is this normal on these XJR's or is it just me...
Thanks

On my Xjr i had a odd spongy thing going on and when i would let off the gas, it would idle high, and not go back down. unless i hit the pedal quick. Simprof on my mine there are these 2 black throttle cable ajusters that unclip to turn them. there is one right out of the fire wall, and one right after the traction control motor thing. i played around with these and got my idle to return back to normal and sorta fixed my spongy feel.
The one that comes out of the firwwall and cross over to the right side of the engine bay I found but the second one I cannot see.. Can you point me to the locaction in the engine bay..
Thanks

It's there somewhere---probably nested behind the hoses and harnesses along the firewall.

Thanks again guys I see the second one in the picture will go looking for it again in that area once I get the time. When I find them both is a step I need to take to set them so they work together?

Search the archives with *traction control* and *cable* thrown into the serach. Someone posted the adjustment procedure right out of the manual....probably Motorcarman.
To be honest I've followed ...or tried to follow...the prescribed adjustment procedure and I couldn't make sense of it. Could be I was having a dense moment....not all that unusual for me these days.
I just adjust mine to take up any excess slack and call it good. If the engine speed increases you know you've gone too far.
