Default Sticky Throttle 1996 XJR

Just wondering if anyone has some input on my sticky throttle.

The engine idles a little high but when I tap the pedal it calms down. I just lubricated the cables thoroughly but it turns out it is not the cables. In fact it does the same with the cables disconnected.

I also hosed down the linkage at the intake as best I could but no change yet.

Just wondering if this is a common problem with an un-common fix

Aaron.

The throttle body probably needs cleaning. Use carb cleaner, acetone, lacquer thinner on a rag. Do not spray into the throat. Make sure the butterfly is clean also.

Will do

Do you know if this is this something that can be done from underneath or will I need to pull the supercharger gear and go at it from the top?

I uploaded TSBs in the sticky section for this fault.
It is a common fault that Jaguar addressed back in the 90s.
Look for TSBs................
3.1-15
5.1-23am2
5.1-26am5

All you need to know is there.

On side note, while lubricating my throttle cables I noticed they were adjusted poorly.

After my adjustment I now have close to a full inch more of pedal travel! the gas station just got that much closer ha ha.

thanks again for the help.

Aaron.
