by pressing the button a few times to get manual control of it can get it in the shut position but soon as i try locking and arming car the sun roof opens. so im pretty confused about that and opted to just pull the fuse. anyone got any ideas for fix?

There is a calibration procedure.

Look in the manual or search the X308 section for the
posted PDF extract.

Yep, this is on my list of to-do's this summer too.

My sunroof currently doesn't properly auto open/close, so I need to recalibrate it, lube up the moving parts... general service.

I had the same problem. Calibrated the sunroof and the issue persisted. A new sunroof control unit from the junkyard fixed it.

Uggh, here's hoping that isn't the issue in my case (something else to find/buy), but another good data point to know.

My 96 Jag Vanden Plans. The sun roof opens and closes with the switch, but the inside lid and glass top both move in tandem. Is this normal? On my Lexus, I can just slide the lid and have the sun roof closed. Any one have any ideas?

None of the X300 (neither did the X308) XJs had a glass sunroof, they are all metal unless there was some aftermarket glass unit that I've never seen.

That's why the previous poster was joking that he wished he had a "glass top"

What year model XJ do you have? You may be in the wrong sub forum.

At the outset, my apologies and sorry. You both are right, I do have a metal sun roof and no glass. I am not sure for some reason, why I was thinking there is a glass roof. I was trying my best to push open the inner lid. Now it makes sense why it moves in tandem with sun roof. Well one of those stupid moments.

Now, is there any aftermarket product available to replace metal with glass? My Lexus RX 350 has sunroof and enjoy opening it when weather is nice and some times just move the inner lid and enjoy the sky. May be that is why in mind I thought the Jag was similar. Sorry again guys.

I have 1996 VP with 80k miles and a 2008 XKR with 66k miles. Both are awesome cars.
