Default Transmission Drain Plug

Hello. I am returning member, but had to re-register. I just picked up a 1996 XJ6. First off, I want to do several drain-and-fills for the trans. I can't get my fat head all the way under the trans pan to get a good enough look, so I am hoping someone here knows what sort of drain plug I have. I see what looks like a thick washer-type plug with a torx or allen head center. It is in the center of the pan. I just want to make sure I have the tools I need before I really shoehorn myself under there for the task. I also don't want to remove something that is not a drain but will harm the trans.

Thanks in advance.

It's a 5mm allen plug. See this procedure here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...cement-164781/

Good to find a plug, there....not all were so-equipped and you have to drain by loosening the large nut on the fill tube/dipstick

For easy drain and refills, I just like to use a pump through the dipstick tube. No crawling around under the car necessary. Park the car tail up to force more fluid forward, let it sit overnight, then pump away! I emptied into an empty gallon jug, noted the amount taken out, put back in the same, Done!

I just pulled mine up on a couple of 2 X 12 LVLs and was able to get under enough to reach the drain plug. Got about 3 1/2 quarts. Did it 3 times (driving in-between). Should be good for a while.
