Default Transmission fluid capacity - How much? '96 xj6

I'm about to do a drain and refill with a filter change on my transmission but I'm seeing two different capacities for it.

1996 XJ6 base

In the service manual it says 7.3 liters but I heard that it only takes about about 5 for a 1995 XJS and I don't think it should take double that for an xj6. I've searched online and also called auto stores around here and they told me it's 4.5 quarts for a drain and refill.

Can anyone tell me how much exactly as of course, I don't want to add too much or too little.

When you drain the transmission, quite a lot of fluid remains in the torque converter. so that might count for the difference. I know when I recently changed the fluid on my XJR(different transmission), I only got around 4.75 quarts out of it. When refilling, replace close to what was removed, then top it off using the stick to check the level. it's easier to add than to extract.

Thank you for this information. It helped with determining where to start with the capacity. I decided to first add 4.5 and drive it around and see how it shifts then I checked the level and it was perfect. I guess in the service manual, they account for what's in the torque converter also.
