Upgraded stereo to android headunit
nice work. similar job we have going on.
i was considering a brand name double din for sound quality, but went with a android for functionality.
for the switches i was going to have the hazard switch flash when the hazards were on, however decided that i wanted backlight switches instead. so purchased separate indicator lights. the switches are 2 pin, providing +/- for the halo LED and NO/NC/COM for the switch
the switches are wired in to provide backlighting when dash lights are on.
the hazard indicator light flashes when hazards are on, and the security indicator light should flash hen security is active but i dunno under what circumstances that light flashes so havn't seen it flash.
Hazard Light Switch
LED +/- = Dash Illum (RP) ---> Ground (B)
Switch = Hazard Switch (YR) ---> (B)
Hazard Light Indicator Light
Hazard Repeater (YP) ---> Constant Power (NO)
All Close Switch
LED +/- = Dash Illum (RP) ---> Ground (B)
Switch = All Close switch (SG) ---> Ground (B)
Security Light
Security Active LED (S) ---> Logic Ground (BK)
i went with these for the switches (in 19mm) i also brought the matching plugs to make wiring easier

and these for the indicator lights (in 12mm)

what do you mean older cars with fake gauges?
what you show in that image is not exactly what i would call an alternative.
that is a vastlky different scenario.
that is a single din with flip up screen that blocks all the aircon controls and is not practical to use everything all at once.
there are other options and other ways to do things, most certainly.
i could have easily installed a single DIN with flip up screen in about 5 mins, but the reasons i did not do that are
A - the appearence it just looks like it doesn't belong at all.
B - the practicality, can't use the screen and the AC all at once,
C - also by using an android system the functionality is crazy good.
but at the end of the day i accept that the level of effort i went to, to do this is not for everybody and many people want a simpler easier solution.
it is just not for me.
is that a full android single din actually?

The older cars with three gauges ...oil pressure /clock/voltmeter are false gauges .Ie do not give accurate reading but are driven to read say 13v if the computer thinks the battery voltage is in range. Same for the oil gauge its just worked by the oil pressure switch .No oil pressure sensor is fitted.
What you say of the flip out screen is wrong.
You can just bend it down with one finger and adjust the air con etc or push it horizontal if you are not using the GPS.
Looks fine to me . I dont like loosing the coin tray and your screen is too small.
But we all have our cars the way we want them.

of course we all do as we like.
we all like different things.
and i know you "can" move the screen, its just something i would find very annoying.
glad it works for you.
what do you mean by black void at the bottom of my installation??
and what do you mean my screen is too small??
are you talking bout my images or the other image posted by another user here?
there is no void on mine and my screen is 8.8" widescreen.

you are certainly correct that it is great to get all info and stuff.
i have TORQUE on mine and its great to be able to check anything.
i have found tho that the info sometimes freezes.
not sure if it is the x300 talking to the OBDII, if it is my particular OBDII or if it is the app.
but sometimes i will be watching some readings like throttle, and then it will freeze after a random time and i will need to reset the app.
the app is still working but the guages freeze.
