Upholstery Replacement
Been looking for replacement leather seat material for a 1995 VDP but all I seem to find is sets for a standard XJ6. Does anyone know of anyplace making reproduction seat covers for the 95-97 Vanden Plas models? Another Question : How do you remove the upper portion of the seat from the lower portion? I've partially taken a seat apart but can't seem to find any way to separate the two sections. And does anyone know if the top sections are interchangeable between drivers and passengers side seats,as there seem to be many more salvageable passengers seats in the wrecking yards. I would think it might be easier to just remove the upper sections of the seat and swap them over to a drivers seat without having to disassemble the material/foam off of the seat.
Can you tell me where you found the stuff for standard XJ6 cars? The driver's seat bottom in my 1997 is pretty bad and I wanted to see what it would take to get just that recovered or replace it.
Try searching on Ebay or just do a google search for 95-57 seat covers. The patterns are the same. All you'll need is you 3-digit trim code on the drivers door sticker. Here's a pair for $300. Not sure if you can just buy an individual seat but you may find the right listing. https://www.lseat.com/products/1995-...FZOKaQodvhcH6w

No, I was just pointing out to OP that the site he was saying only had standard XJ6 covers also did VDP ones.
I did see on a FB site that the colours aren’t great matches, so you want to do both front and back at the same time.

I had no need to remove the squab from the cushion, but did skin a driver's seat and recover it. You may find something useful from the event:

Not sure if it helps, but I recently discovered that you can swap the backrests (foam and cover) from passenger to driver side in a matter of minutes with little more then a screwdriver. This enabled me to buy a passenger seat back on line and replace my worn drivers side with it. For the obvious reason, unworn passenger seats are relatively plentiful. I dont know if the same applies to the seat bases but it might be food for thought. My replacement seat back only cost £50, and he had plenty in stock. And of course a UK passenger seat is a US drivers seat.......
