Default Upper timing chain tensioner long bolt problem

I'm changing the upper timing chain tensioner and ran into a snag. The long bolt doesn't clear part of the power steering pump. It is the round mechanism with the sight glass in it along with an electrical connector. Looks like there is a bolt holding it down. I was wondering if I just unbolt that and it pops out. Didn't want to try that if it was going to break something else. TIA.

Yes, you can pull that straight out. It's the cam position sensor. There is a corresponding mark on the rotor that you can see through the window, I'd roll the engine so those marks are lined up, then remove the cam position sensor. Then when you reinsert the cam sensor you can verify that it is in the right place and hadn't moved a tooth.

Think of it as a replacement for a distributor, but it engages in gears on the crank the same as a distributor would.
