Does anyone have any idea where this part goes and if it's necessary? I changed the stem seals on my car and in the chaos I forgot this part in a small bag.

It looks like the bolt and retainer for the upper timing chain tensioner (OLD STYLE).

The short bolt does NOT go in that hole. (part of the tensioner does)

I don't think that's it either. There's a different looking part that I already put I need the tensioner.

The NEW style tensioner DOES NOT have the long/short bolt combo!!!!

You need two SHORT bolts for the new style tensioner and the long bolt becomes 'DISCARDED'.

Did you read the TSB??

The new tensioner is a cast solid unit and the old one has a plug in the end that has a retainer that looks EXACTLY like that bracket.

I know the upper tensioner has equal bolt lengths. I pulled it off and this most certainly is not the part that goes over the tensioner. I pulled this part from the car and i just don't know where exactly it goes back onto it. (pulled this alongside the tensioner cover)

Upon re-examination, I think both of the parts go onto there. I thought you meant only the small piece is supposed to cover the tensioner ;p Thanks for the help
