That would be Jaguar S-Type that shares the platform with Lincoln LS, so my guess would be: forget about it.

You'll find a few relays and switches that are common but for the most part, as FireCrow said - what you've heard pertains to the S-Type. There is a thread in the S-type section so-titled, I believe.

S-Type...just sold my Lincoln LS a few weeks ago and they shared many components. In fact in a lot of cases I ordered the S-Type part because it was cheaper then the Lincoln part (strange I know) last purchase was two months ago for an S-Type top rad hose assy....$109 Lincoln, $39 S-Type...same exact part. S-Type and LS was a joint venture so to say as the X-Type was to the Ford Mondeo. The XJ's were more or less strictly Jaguar with some Ford influences.

You may have head about XK8 and XKR drivers using Lincoln engine parts which you could do if your car was a V8 which is in the later model XJ Jag. From 98 to about 2003 the engines in the Lincoln LS and Thunder Bird are close to the same.

The Lincoln LS and Thunderbird ARE the same right down to the dash/ gauges and console. Different body pinnings and no back seat of course.

It is quite possible that some of the parts on your '97 are Ford parts that may have been used on Lincolns or other Ford models. We've only owned our '04 since August so I don't know everything yet, but so far I've discovered that both the brake pressure switch and cruise disable switch are Ford parts used on the Explorer and other models (the switches are actually marked Fo Mo Co). The air filter is made by Visteon, one of Ford's suppliers (formerly a Ford division), and the cabin air filter is actually marked Ford.

Ford isn't shy about having its parts marked (look for names like Motorcraft, Fo Mo Co, Visteon, etc.). Ford has divested many of is parts divisions over the years as part of its financial survival, but the historic brand names continue to be used on parts supplied to Ford for its vehicle manufacturing. (Ford was forced to sell off its Autolite division in the early '70s but that brand name is still in use by its current owner, FRAM).

Cheers,

Don

Unlikely. X300 and X350 are too different. I looked under the dash, I digged deep in mine and most parts were stamped clearly 'Jaguar', even smallest circuit boards. Although the spare wheel had 'Made in Brazil' on it and there were 2 boxes hidden behind headlights with print 'Made in Mexico', which worries me a bit... Even my Argie wife said: if something's going to fail on this car, the first thing will be those things from Mexico...

I've used a few Lincoln LS parts on my XK8 in a pinch, not wanting to wait for mail order parts. I've found the LS parts more expensive and the Lincoln dealer does not cross reference to Jaguar so you are on your own hoping the parts fit. In my experience you are better off ordering from one of the forum sponsors and get the right parts the first time.

Hi FireCrow,

Since, like the X350, the X300 was manufactured under Ford ownership, it doesn't seem unlikely to me that some of the parts may have been sourced from Ford's suppliers, even if the parts are marked Jaguar. Jaguar did not make its own electronic or electrical parts (ECUs, switches, relays, harness connectors, window and sunroof motors, starters and alternators, radios, CD changers, speakers, etc.). Most of the parts marked Jaguar were actually made by third-party OEMs. Over the years Jaguar has used parts from General Motors, so it makes sense that under Ford ownership they may have sourced some items from Ford's suppliers.

Cheers,

Don
