Smile Very strange wheels

Came across this XJ6 Jag with the strangest wheels I have ever seen. There is something painted on the wheels or there are cut outs. Has any one seen anything like this?

IMHO they look like standard XJ6 wheels that have been chromed. I think this is the "Kiwi" wheel but I always get the names mixed up

These are 'dimple's. Kiwis are the flat faced ones with 14 slots.

I think it's a reflection that you are seeing.

The 8x16" Dimple alloy is my favourite. I've got a set on my Sovereign and I just love them.

But in chrome? Bleugh. Chrome wheels are one of the reasons I didn't seek out a Daimler Century.

Now I feel kinda stupid. No, not kinda stupid. Really stupid.

Yes, what I was seeing was a reflection in the shinny wheels.

Just wasn't my day.

I agree with Ziggy and JPster.
It's not a reflection, it's real and it is the chrome plated Dimple, available here:

I like the big faced chrome rims, just like the 90's AMG mono blocks on mercedes. I think chrome blends in nicely with our cars due to the chrome window trim, handles, grill, leaper..etc.

As a Kiwi, I've never heard of Kiwi wheels! What are they?

My Daimler 6 X300 has chromed wheels, but I think it was imported near-new from Japan in the late 1990s, rather than sold new in NZ

It's not relevant to the original post, but I cleaned my wheels up in the weekend and got several years' caked on brake dust out of the slots - took about 6 applications of the nasty alkaline cleaner - and now the wheels are a bit blingy for an old 44 yr old like me!
But I really like'em

Quick image with a camera phone but enough to show the pattern:

KIWI is No 7 on the left. DIMPLE (the subject of this thread is No 6 on the right.
